Lorenzo puts Yamaha on top

Jorge Lorenzo ended Casey Stoner's run of fastest times in the final MotoGP free practice session in Qatar. Reigning champion Stoner - who had been quickest for Honda in practice one and two - led most of the Friday night session as well, but was pushed back to third in a flurry of late fast times. Lorenzo put in a 1m55.536s on his Yamaha to depose Stoner's early 1m55.674s going into the final minutes.

5 great-looking apps for your new iPad

The biggest selling point for Apple's newest iPad is its high-resolution screen, which packs more pixels in a 9.7-inch tablet than you've got in that big HDTV in your living room. The Trailers app, which features both movies available in iTunes as well as those now playing and coming to theaters, now delivers movie previews in high-definition video on the new iPad. The new hardware can display up to 1080p HD video, but the quality will vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection Find a zippy WiFi or 4G connection before you settle in to watch. Flipboard recently added cover stories - highlighted content with large photos - and these look beautiful on the new iPad. The app won't do much for low-res images coming out of Twitter and Facebook, but when the content providers offer high-res pictures, they really shine. More and more networks and cable channels are letting iPad owners access their content through apps, and the ABC Player is a standout.

Report: Rockstar animator's resume suggests Grand Theft Auto 5 coming in October [w/video]

Grand Theft Auto V

There are lots of automotive video games, from realistic racing games like Gran Turismo and Forza to fun driving games like Mario Kart to social games like Disc Drivin' for iOS. But there is only one Grand Theft Auto.

No other video game brings the dark humor inherent in mayhem like the GTA franchise, and it looks like a new installment will be here in a scant six months. According to a report on Joystiq, a Linked In resume for an animator and employee at game developer Rockstar was spotted listing Grand Theft Auto V with a shipping date of October 2012. Since then, the resume has been removed from the site and Rockstar is not commenting, according to the report.

Of course, the video game industry is as notorious for slipping shipping dates as it is for rumor mongering, so while you might want to place your preorder on Amazon, don't be surprised if you're still waiting come Christmas. Joystiq is skeptical about an October shipping date, pointing out that Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has already announced BioShock Infinite for an October launch, which would put the two titles in unnecessary competition.

Until then, we still have the GTA V trailer, which you can see if you scroll down.

Nevada casino revenue up 5.7 percent in February

Michael Lawton, a senior research analyst for the Nevada Gaming Control Board, said the numbers showed several positive signs, even after accounting for a 3.5 percent bump because of the leap year adding a day to the month. Las Vegas Strip casinos won $113.9 million from baccarat, down nearly 19 percent from the same month last year but still far more than the amount won from blackjack, craps, roulette and other table games. Analyst Mark Strawn of Morgan Stanley Research said that while baccarat weighed on the results, the Strip is showing signs of sustainable recovery at its core. "Given the calendar shift, we believe February's results should be viewed on a two-month combined basis with January, and total Las Vegas Strip gaming revenue was up 16 percent in January and February (combined)," Strawn told investors in a note.

Shilajit is unproven yet touted as a panacea for many ills

The substance, said to be used for thousands of years across the mountain regions of Central Asia and Northern India, is an ancient ayurvedic medicine.

It has a smoky, bitter taste, a deeply unpleasant odor and bears a close resemblance to black gobs of tar. Pricey tar, mind you: 10 grams (a month's supply) will set you back $80.
